What was your routine while preparing for the exam and how much time did you took to cover your syllabus?.

I was very CONSISTENT with my study. I daily go to library and study nearly 7-8 hours a day. Library is the place with no distraction, even you see all the people around you are studying, so it automatically feels motivated to study.

I try to solve as many question as I can, that feeds CONFIDENCE in myself. I started preparing GATE in 4th semester with Aptitude and Mathematics first and later technical portion.

Most of the subjects are already done in collage time, so its not so hard to recall all the concepts. Up to last 4 months I have completed all my syllabus. And in last 4 months I solved 31 year GATE papers and gave test series(Using its virtual calculator only).

Books you followed during preparation?

Mostly I followed my ICE class-notes and Made easy study Postal material. For some concepts I used reference books-
SOM – BC Punamia
TOM – Shigley, SS Rattan
Thermo – PK Nag
R & AC – CP Arora
Fluid – FM White, SK Som
HMT – Cengel, Incropera
MD – Shighley, VB Bhandari
Production – Kalpakjian
Industrial – OP Khanna

Lastly I made my own notes while preparing the subject. That has helped me in last time to recall all the important formulae and important concepts.

Few words For Juniors?

Study is most pleasurable if you enjoy doing it, don’t take it as a burden. Be regular with yourself, and be confident while appearing in GATE exam. In pass time I used to play Chess, and watch motivational videos. That will boosts up my confidence and I stay motivated about study almost all the time. My future plan is to work for PSU job, so that I gain practical knowledge and experience which I never got from books.
