Nowadays MTech qualification is not required in order to be eligible for PhD you can directly get admitted to phd, if you have a B.Tech degree then also you can go for PhD program. Different benefits of going for PhD program are listed below:

If you wish to go for higher studies abroad then you need not worry about exams such as GRE and TOEFL which are generally required in other universities. There are some universities which consider GATE score for admission of Indian Students such as National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU).  Which is very helpful for students because they are providing scholarships also for same course.

GATE score must be within three years or less from the date of application and GATE percentile must be above 90 only students are eligible to take admission.
